It’s a combination of everything I suppose. The people, the city, the landscapes, the architecture, the lifestyle… pretty much it all. I love that in the city you can have everything, even in smaller areas, at your finger tips. Shops, restaurants, pubs, grocery stores are all within a short walking distance. The city is so walkable, public transit (despite what the locals say) is amazing and goes everywhere for cheap. Taxis are everywhere and they aren’t crazy expensive. The food was great, the beer even better and getting to see a 1000 year old castle in the middle of the city every day on my way to work was incredible. It’s cold and it rains but it adds to the charm. If it weren’t for our mothers, we would never have moved back home. Some days we really regret it but we did it for our daughter so she could be around her family. We will always have a deep and lasting connection with Scotland via her and it will never be out of our system. We are already planning another visit next spring where it’s just the two of us. A vacation with a toddler isn’t much of a vacation!
