There’s a little order in the Richmond/Sunset in that the boulevards crossing the Avenues are roughly alphabetical (this is more true on the [Sunset side](https://maps.google.com/maps?q=sf+ca&ll=37.758739,-122.494683&spn=0.017847,0.03871&client=opera&oe=utf-8&channel=suggest&hnear=San+Francisco,+California&gl=us&t=m&z=15) once you get past Lincoln), so if someone says “23rd and Noriega”, you know about where it is.
Here’s a fun little bit of trivia about the Richmond side of the park: The first 8 or 9 streets can all be played as musical notes: Fulton Cabrillo Balboa Anza Geary Clement California. It falls apart at Lake, but what can you do.
Market and [SoMa’s streets](https://maps.google.com/maps?q=brannan+and+8th+sf+ca&ll=37.77638,-122.410698&spn=0.017842,0.03871&client=opera&oe=utf-8&channel=suggest&hnear=Brannan+St+%26+8th+St,+San+Francisco,+California+94103&gl=us&t=m&z=15) still are messy because of the angle they’re at, which messes up the grid on both sides until you get to 13th Street/Division where a little more order is enforced. You do still run into strange things, like that 3rd Street crosses 16th and 17th Streets, for instance.
