Hong Kong has a large number of innovative and interesting buildings. However, most of them are concentrated near the harbour, and you can’t see them that well from Victoria Peak since the residential towers get in the way.
The residential towers you see are constrained to some degree because of the size of land parcels that have come on the market in the mid-levels region, and the economic necessity to build as tall as is feasible. Very tall buildings in very narrow spaces can only have so many structurally sound permutations with contemporary engineering techniques.
