Read into the history, there was a coup (the cia was most likely involved) which installed a military dictator to prevent the soviets from getting more south american allies where they could base missiles and effect american economic opportunities (cuba 2.0). The dictator instituted chicago school economics (literally brought in economists from chicago, libertarians, milton friedman style etc.) it was a huge success, then the dictator gave up his power when he reveresed all the damage done by delusional socialists who don’t even know the basics of economics. Overall chile has the best living standard in south america, and lefties whine about how ‘the poor are still suffering’ its pure bullshit, the poor in chile have it better then the poor in any other south american country. They just have inequality now because they actually have classes and opportunities which gets marxists mad. Rather then a few thousand peoples right infringed on, marxists would prefer chile to become venezuela where the country/economy is so shit thousands die every year from crime since the country is so fucked. Whats better in the long run?
Chile is a success story for capitalism, you merely have to compare it to its neighbors.
